Babu made an announcement to a small group of fans last week at Electric Lady studio in New York. She revealed that her next album would be entitled Nu AmErykah and would be released on February 26 under the label Universal Motown. However, Babu did specify that the name is not definitive until the album is complete.
She explained, "I named this album ‘Nu AmErykah’ because I’m dealing with whatever is to come instead of what was. In taking on a project like this, I’m taking the responsibility to talk for my race and my planet. I’m sure the record company will make their money and they’ve given me the blessing of time."
Babu’s last album, Worldwide Underground was launched in 2003.
