New Biopic on Martin Luther King Jr.

DreamWorks will make a big screen biopic on the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Variety magazine reported that DreamWorks have acquired the rights to make a biographical film on Martin Luther King Jr.

Steven Spielberg, Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones will produce the project.

Spielberg has been wanting to make a film for a long time on the civil rights leader that was assassinated in 1968 in Memphis at the age of 39.

This will be the first film authorized by King’s estate, which gave the producers the right to use King’s intellectual property, including his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

Spielberg is currently working on another biography project. It stars Liam Neeson in the role of Abraham Lincoln, entitled Lincoln, to be released in 2011.

He is also finishing filming The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, which will hit theatres next year.
