New Coldplay song sends chills

Chris Martin performs a new Coldplay song at an Apple press conference.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin joined Apple CEO Steve Jobs at a press conference yesterday (September 1) in San Francisco.

Martin made a surprise appearance and played the Coldplay classic Viva La Vida. He then offered the crowd a real treat and introduced a new piano ballad, Wedding Bells. He joked: "This is a new song called Coldplay 2.6 and it has a lot of new features, it features seven different kinds of chords and even a new one that our closest rivals have no idea about."

Before he started tinkling the ivories, Martin added: "It might not even come out. [This] could be the only time it ever appears."

It would be a crying shame if this was the only time Martin performs this song. Have a listen to Wedding Bells and see if it gives you goose bumps too.

Rolling Stone reports the conference was held to announce "the company’s new line of iPods and a social network for music, called Ping, that will allow iTunes users to connect with their friends for music recommendations."
