New director for Clash of the Titans 2

Warner Bros. signs a new director for Clash of the Titans sequel.

Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) inked a deal to direct Clash of the Titans 2. Director Louis Leterrier decided not to work on the second.

Actors Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton will return in starring roles. The second installment could start filming by early 2011.

David Leslie Johnson (Red Riding Hood) and Dan Mazeau (The Flash, Johnny Quest) are writing the script.

Liebesman decided to film in 3D instead of converting it during post-production, as Leterrier did with the first flick.

Clash of the Titans cost about $125 million to make and has earned almost $500 million so far worldwide.

In the meantime, Jonathan Liebesman’s next film, Battle: Los Angeles will be released in March 2011. It stars Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriquez as members of a marine platoon battling aliens in L.A.
