New Glee album includes original songs

Glee: The Music, Volume 5 will include two original songs performed by show’s cast.

The hit musical TV show Glee will be releasing its first original songs, included on the compilation album Glee: The Music, Volume 5, due out March 8, reports Anti-Music.

Loser Like Me is co-written by Max Martin, who has penned hits for artists like Britney Spears and Pink. Get It Right, on the other hand, is written by Glee’s own Lea Michele (Rachel Berry).

The songs will air as part of the March 15 episode of Glee. Get It Right is a slower ballad which will be performed by Michele, while Loser Like Me will have the entire cast joining in.

Along with the two original songs, Glee: The Music: Volume 5 will include covers of Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now, Katy Perry’s Firework and Justin Bieber’s Baby.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow returns to the show, and will be featured in performances of Prince’s Kiss, Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide and Joan Jett’s Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah).

Although only two new songs are confirmed so far, more original compositions may be in the works for the show. Earlier this month, Glee‘s music supervisor, PJ Bloom, revealed that there was a "possibility" that next season could have an entire episode dedicated to original songs, in which each member of the fictional glee club would be given an assignment to compose something new.
