Throughout the year, there has been a growing rumour of a new Michael Jackson album in the works. That rumour was finally confirmed with yesterday’s (November 4) announcement that an album entitled Michael, containing unreleased material, will drop December 14, reports Billboard.
This Monday (November 8), the first single, Breaking News, will be released to give the listening public a taste of what’s to come on the pop star’s first posthumous album. The song was originally recorded in 2007, and completed after his untimely death on June 25, 2009.
Earlier this year, will.i.am, one of the artists who worked with the King of Pop before his death, said that such an album should never see the light of day, since Michael Jackson was a perfectionist at all times and supervised every step of production right up to the final product to ensure it met his exacting standards.
At the same time, unrelated to the album, Cirque du Soleil has just announced Michael Jackson, the Immortal World Tour, a new theatrical production that will premiere in October 2011.
