New music from both sides of the border

Stone Temple Pilots break radio silence and release their first album since 2001.

The album with the most buzz today (May 25) is no doubt the eponymous release by the Stone Temple Pilots. The California group proved the naysayers wrong with this new release. Lead singer and frontman Scott Weiland battled his drug demons and came back from the brink so the band could write and record this new offering. It is their sixth studio album and the first since Shangri – La Dee Da came out in 2001.

Still in the world of rock, the Smashing Pumpkins also release the first of 11 EPs on the market. This EP has four songs and was written and recorded as part of the epic 44-song Teargarden By Kaleidyscope project by Billy Corgan. Vol. 1: Songs For A Sailor is now in stores.

Another artist who has not released new material in a while is Mark Anthony. Just like his wife Jennifer Lopez, Anthony releases a new album in 2010 after taking time off following the birth of their twins in February 2008. For Anthony, Iconos is the first studio album since Salsa came out in 2004. This is another Spanish-language album.

Red-haired model Karen Nelson, also the wife of White Stripes frontman Jack White, releases her debut album, The Ghost Who Walks. Her talented husband helped produce this album.

North of the border, Céline Dion fans can get their hands on a box set today that contains her two latest DVDs, Céline: Through the Eyes of the World and Taking Chances World Tour. This set includes the DVD of her life on tour and the DVD concert in its entirety. This edition also includes a 48-page booklet featuring exclusive photos and numerous articles as well as five postcards.
