New music from both sides of the border

The Rolling Stones re-released album Exile on Main Street features 10 new songs.

Among the batch of new music out this week, the biggest news is probably the re-issue of The Rolling Stones successful album Exile on Main Street, originally released in 1972. It has been generating a lot of buzz, particularly the discovery of 10 unheard songs by the band from that time.

The Rolling Stones have not released new material since A Bigger Bang in 2005. Since Exile on Main Street is considered by many to be one of the group’s best albums, the idea of original new songs sparks a lot of fan interest.

Some artists and bands with new albums out today south of the border include the legendary Willie Nelson with Rarities – Volume 1. Then there’s Infinite Arms by U.S. rockers Band of Horses that hits shelves today along with Brothers by Black Keys. Macy Gray also returns with a new album, The Sellout.

This Is Happening is the new release by LCD Soundsystem. It received an impressive 9.2 out of 10 on Pitchforkmedia.com, a rare grade on this renowned and respected site.

North of the border, Canadian indie and alt country rockers The Sadies return with an album called Darker Circles. Info on the band’s website describes the new release: "The Sadies bring their signature blend of country, psychedelic, rock and surf into rifle-scope focus on Darker Circles, further underscoring their reputations as musicians’ musicians."
