New music from both sides of the border

Bret Michaels is not letting a near-death experience slow him down.

Singer Bret Michaels has been busy since a brain hemorrhage nearly killed him. His new album, Custom Built, is out today. It features a duet with Miley Cyrus, Nothin’ To Lose, as well as a version of Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorn that he made with Brad Arnold from 3 Doors Down, Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts, Chris Cagle and Mark Wills.

The ever popular Kylie Minogue releases Aphrodite today. She had help from Stuart Price on this album, a producer known for his work with Madonna, The Killers and Gwen Stefani. This is Minogue’s first album since 2007 and her own near-death experience with breast cancer.

Enrique Iglesias is back with a bilingual Spanish-English album. Euphoria is the Latin heartthrob’s ninth studio album (he has four in Spanish and four in English to his credit).

For hip-hop lovers out there, The Game is back with a new album, The Red Album.

On this side of the border, Toronto-based Mandala is a blast from the 60s past. The soul band featured the late Dominic Troiano who played with The James Gang and The Guess Who. Roy Kenner also became the lead singer of The James Gang. The band rereleased Soul Crusade.
