New Music May 3

Jennifer Lopez, Beastie Boys. Sade return with long-awaited albums.

American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez returns to the music scene for the first time in four years with her seventh studio album, Love? The new album includes some big name collaborators – Lady Gaga helped write and produce two of the tracks, and hip-hop stars Lil Wayne and Pitbull are featured on others.

More long-awaited news in the world of hip-hop: the Beastie Boys have released their new album, Hot Sauce Committee Part 2, which ironically comes out ahead of the oft-delayed Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. The complete uncensored album has been streaming freely through the band’s official website since last week, but is only now available for purchase and download.

A week of releases from old-school artists, including new music from Stevie Nicks with her album In Your Dreams, and a 25th anniversary greatest hits collection from Poison with Double Dose: Ultimate Hits. Also out this week is X2 (Be Exalted/I Believe) from Sade, a two-disc greatest hits compilation that includes three never-before-heard songs.

With his new band Sixx A.M., Mötley Crüe founding member Nikki Sixx released This Is Gonna Hurt, the companion album to his recent autobiography, This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography and Life Through the Distorted Lens of Nikki Sixx, which was released last month.
