New Music May 31

Eddie Vedder releases his folksy solo album Ukulele Songs.

In new music today, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder releases a solo album, Ukulele Songs. The folksy 16-track album features the musician on the – surely enough – ukulele, performing a mix of original and cover songs. The sound is a major departure from his work with Pearl Jam, although fans of Vedder’s work on the Into the Wild soundtrack (2007) will find it familiar.

Also out today, indie rockers Death Cab for Cutie release their seventh studio album, Codes and Keys. The album has been available for streaming through the NPR website since last week, but is now available for download and in stores.

The new album Director’s Cut from English singer-songwriter Kate Bush makes its North American debut today. The album was released in the U.K. on May 22 and debuted at number two on the British charts. Recorded in analog instead of digital, the album is available for download, on CD as a regular or deluxe version, and on vinyl.

New Kid on the Block Jordan Knight comes out with his fourth solo album, Unfinished, just as he’s heading out on tour with boy-band super-group NKOTBSB.

Also out today, psychedelic country rockers My Morning Jacket launch their sixth album, Circuital, and Speed of Darkness, the fifth studio album from Irish-American punk rock band Flogging Molly, hits shelves.
