New music November 1

Justin Bieber launches his holiday album Under the Mistletoe.

As we enter the countdown to Christmas, holiday albums are beginning to hit the shelves, and perhaps the most notable of them, Justin Bieber’s Under the Mistletoe, arrives in stores today. The album contains a mix of old classics and new hits, and features notable guests like Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Usher, The Band Perry and Busta Rhymes.

If you’re looking for something a little edgier, hard rockers Megadeth today release their thirteenth studio album Thirteen, which marks the return of original bassist Dave Ellefson. Meanwhile, the unlikely collaboration between Metallica and Lou Reed, Lulu, also hits stores today. The LP contains songs written by Reed for use in a musical – but given the Metallica hard rock treatment.

Britain’s Got Talent surprise success story, Susan Boyle today releases her third studio album, Someone to Watch Over Me. Like her first two albums, the new LP contains a collection of classic songs, including Unchained Melody and the title track Someone to Watch Over Me. Boyle also branches out covering more contemporary songs such as Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence, Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides, Now, and Tears for Fears’ Mad World.

Also out today: Florence + the Machine release their new album Ceremonials; country singer Miranda Lambert releases Four the Record; and U2 release the special double album reissue of their classic album Achtung Baby.
