New park opens outside of Sherbrooke, Quebec

Renovated Montjoye resort officially opens as Parc du Mont Hatley.

The Parc du Mont Hatley (Mount Hatley Park), in Canton de Hatley, just outside of Sherbrooke, Quebec, kicked off the summer season this weekend (June 4-5) with a popular open house event, reports La Tribune.

The open house was a success with many people – especially families – out enjoying the good weather and newly-groomed hiking trails. Families are encourage to bring a lunch and enjoy the outdoor picnic facilities.

Built on what was once the Montjoye ski resort, the new park has undergone massive renovations and is finally open to the public this summer. Visitors can explore the paths on foot or by bicycle, or even horseback. In the winter, the park offers trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

While much of the park’s focus is on enjoying the great outdoors, there are beautiful chalets and shelters along the mountain path, and a banquet hall available for bookings of 80-400 people.
