New PiL tour will stop in Montreal and TO

PiL is the first post-rock, post-punk group that came into being after the Sex Pistols.

He’s been one of the most controversial characters on the British music scene. Born John Joseph Lydon, you may know him better by his stage name… Johnny Rotten. His old group PiL is back together and ready to rock North American stages.

Well, he says Public Image Ltd. never broke up; they just went on hiatus. The group came together in 1978 after the Sex Pistols crashed and burned. PiL had a short, yet successful time of it. After that, he reclaimed his name and left Johnny Rotten as a rock legend. He wanted to make a clean break with the Sex Pistols.

John Lydon is now bringing PiL on a 17-stop tour of North America. The tour begins at the Coachella Festival in California.

Canadian fans can sing hallelujah (or "God Save The Queen") because there are two planned stops north of the border. Public Image Ltd. will visit Toronto’s Kool Haus on May 7 and Théâtre Olympia in Montreal on May 8.
