New project for Ben Affleck

Oscar-winner considering role in Gangster Squad.

Actor Ben Affleck is reportedly considering a role in a new project, Gangster Squad, adapted from a series of L.A. Times articles, according to Coming Soon.

The true story is about an ‘off the record’ police task force that went after Meyer Harris "Mickey" Cohen, a high-profile gangster and member of the "Jewish Mafia" in the 1940’s.

With a screenplay drafted by former L.A. cop and novelist Will Beall, Warner Bros. has pitched the project to Ben Affleck, talented actor, screenwriter, producer and director. At this time, Affleck has not accepted the offer and is allegedly weighing the project against a few other options.

Affleck won an Oscar for best original screenplay with Matt Damon in 1997 for Good Will Hunting. He directed his first feature film in 2007 Gone Baby Gone and his second, The Town, was released in theatres on September 17.
