A news anchor was shocked to learn that the Republic of Ireland is not in the United Kingdom.
US TV network CNBC’s host, Joe Kerner was discussing the country’s tax system and whether it contributes to its golfing success when he asked why their currency is Euros rather than pounds.
The chief of Ireland’s foreign investment agency then explained that it’s because the country isn’t part of the UK in the same way as Northern Ireland.
Clearly oblivious to the years of conflict in Ireland over the idea of a union, Kerner said, ”What? Why would you do that?” before adding that they ”needed to get it together”.
