Nickelback wishes they’d written musical Chicago

Canadian rockers talk about writing for movie soundtracks.

Canadian rockers Nickelback said they wished they had performed the soundtrack for the musical Chicago, reports Music News.

In an interview with Absolute Radio, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, discussed the band’s work on the song Hero, which appeared on the soundtrack of the 2002 Spider-Man movie.

Kroeger wrote the piece in collaboration with Josie Scott from the band Saliva, before it was chosen for the film, explaining: “When you start a song that says ‘I’m so high I can hear heaven’, you know, I wasn’t really talking about – .”

“Spiderman,” said the interviewer.

“Swinging from building to building,” added Kroeger.

When asked if there were any films he wished they had recorded the soundtrack for, Krooger replied, “Chicago. I think we could have done the whole sound track to Chicago….We could have done it poorly, but we could have done it.”

The Rockstar hitmakers are preparing a massive tour in 2012 to promote their new album Here and Now, released November 21.
