Nicolas Cage Backs Out of The Green Hornet

Nicolas Cage will not be starring in The Green Hornet.

While we’ve all believed that Cage would be playing Mr. X in the film adaptation of the comic strip, The Green Hornet, news to the contrary is being reported.

Filming is already underway in Los Angeles, and Columbia Pictures continued to negotiate with the actor, who finally walked away from the project.  Apparently, Cage’s schedule is too busy now that he has joined the casts of the films Drive Angry and The Hungry Rabbit Jumps.

The Green Hornet, being directed by Michel Gondry, is scheduled to open in theatres on December 17, 2010.  The film stars Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson.

In the meantime, we can next see Nicolas Cage in the film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.
