Nicolas Cage to Play Liberace

Actor Nicolas Cage has been selected to play Liberace in a musical film.

For several years, Cage has been rumoured to be the man who would play the legendary American pianist.  The news was revealed at the Sundance Film Festival by Aaron Seltzer, the film’s director.

Seltzer explained, "We met with Nicolas Cage last year and he really wanted to star in it; he wanted to direct himself in it too."

Liberace first became successful on American television during the 1950s.  He went on to become one of the biggest stars in Las Vegas during the 1960s and 70s.  Liberace died of AIDS in 1987.
