Nicole Appleton has praised the new John Lewis Christmas advert – which features a song written by her former brother-in-law Noel Gallagher.

The 40-year-old singer has declared her love for the latest festive ad from the British retailer which features a cover sung by rising star Aurora of the Oasis song ‘Half The World Away’ – a track penned by her ex-husband Liam Gallagher’s older sibling Noel, who has been paid thousands of pounds for letting the track be used.

She wrote on Twitter: ”Good morning Friday

”Love the new John Lewis @johnlewisretail advert… (sic)”

Her praise for the Noel soundtracked ad is a veiled swipe at Liam who didn’t perform or write anything on the B-side, which featured on their December 1994 single ‘Whatever’.

Nicole went through a bitter split from Liam, 43, in 2013 following five years of marriage after she discovered he had fathered a love child with American journalist Liza Ghorbani and had an affair with his former manager Debbie Gwyther, who he now lives with.

The brothers are renowned for their ongoing feud, with their sour relationship tearing Oasis apart back in 2009, following which they have vowed not to reform despite demand from their millions of fans.

And Noel recently admitted he thinks Liam would refuse to get the band back together if he ever warmed to the idea.

He explained: ”If I’d thought there was anything left to achieve I wouldn’t have left Oasis … You name it, we did it all.

”If Oasis were ever to come back we couldn’t be any bigger than we’d already been. There’s no kudos in us selling out three nights at Wembley because we’ve already f**king done seven.

”Ten years from now, if I wake up one morning and go, ‘You know what? I think I’m going to do it,’ I can guarantee you, just for spite, Liam would say, ‘Oh, no, I’m not keen.’ Because that’s the way s**t works.”
