The Oscar-winning star, who is a spokesperson for Chanel Nº 5, accepted compensation from the paper, who had reported that Kidman had breached her contract with Chanel.
Kidman’s attorney, John Kelly, explained that the actress was humiliated by the false story. The Daily Telegraph had written that Kidman was wearing a fragrance made by a rival of Chanel at the premiere of her film The Golden Compass in the United Kingdom.
Kidman was not present in court when the ruling was made. The compensation earned in the lawsuit will be given by Kidman to the United Nations Development Fund for Women.
