No Doubt delays new album until 2012

American rock band posts online message to fans.

No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani issued a statement earlier this year stating that the group was in the studio working on their first album in 10 years, and that it would be launched by the end of the year.

Now, in a message posted Wednesday (September 14) on the band’s official website, No Doubt has announced that the release date has been pushed back to 2012.

The group described how busy they’ve been. “The past twelve months have been eventful; we performed for Paul McCartney and President Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors, three beautiful new No Doubt babies were born, and we’ve recorded in studios all over Los Angeles.

“Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it’s just not ready yet. We don’t want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it’s the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do…”

They thanked their loyal fans for their patience and support and promised to post updates online. The quartet also mentioned “don’t believe anything you hear unless it comes from us,” in terms of rumors of collaborations with outside producers and artists.

No Doubt’s last studio album was 2001’s Rock Steady and in 2004, the group went on hiatus to allow members to work on solo projects.
