No Doubt record is “everything” to Gwen Stefani

Pop singer makes new album a priority, sort of.

Now scheduled for May 2012, fans are eagerly awaiting No Doubt’s sixth studio album, as yet untitled.

The California band spent most of 2010 in the recording studio and was hoping to release the album this fall, however, the group has delayed the release until 2012, stating that they didn’t want to rush it.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, lead singer Gwen Stefani talked about how important the album was to her.

“Right now, the No Doubt album is everything to me.” The singer had delayed her involvement with the band due to the fact that she has had two children over the last five years, and launched three fashion collections.

“I think lately, my new secret is just trying to delegate,” Stefani said. “I just make priorities of what’s important at the moment. Right now, the No Doubt record is everything for me.”

Stefani noted that she and her bandmates have a system for working on the album.

“We do this thing where we work on it really hard, and then we take breaks, because everybody has so much going on,” she said. “That’s why it’s taking so long.

“Everybody asks, ‘Why is it taking so long?’ Because I have kids,” Stefani explained with a laugh. “I’m a mom! I have school, I have homework. It’s a lot.”
