No love songs for Allen Stone

Allen Stone doesn’t write love songs, because he thinks they would limit him as an artist.

Allen Stone doesn’t write love songs.

The 25-year-old soul singer from the state of Washington in the US believes singing R&B songs about relationships would limit him as an artist.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I feel people only writing about love doesn’t stimulate movement and issues such as politics and social media."

Allen began singing at the age of three in his Father’s church and released his first album, ‘Last to Speak’, in 2010.

He added: "If someone gives you the opportunity to stand on a stage and say something to more than one person then I think you should really be a good steward of that, and attempt to bring light, and bring happiness, and bring challenge into their lives."

Allen released his second, self-titled album, last year and while he has no expectations, he has lofty ambitions for his career.

He said: "I’m from a small secluded town of 1,500 people. Getting the opportunity to travel across the world and play songs I’ve written and have anyone pay attention is such an enormous blessing. As long as I’m able to get up on a stage and grab a microphone I’m happy.

"Then there’s the other side of me that has a fire and wants to conquer the world and play arenas and sell millions and millions of records and have a huge influence on the music industry that I am a part of."

Allen Stone’s self-titled album is out now in the UK via Decca.
