No new Coldplay this year

Coldplay’s Chris Martin throws cold water on hope for a new album this year.

Coldplay fans who were hoping to get their hands on a new album by the end of 2010 will be sorely disappointed. Singer Chris Martin spoke at a fanmeet in London and revealed the new album is simply not ready for release.

A source told the site Coldplaying.com that Chris Martin shared news that he and the band had a lot more work to do. "Chris said that although they are close to finishing lots of songs, they have not actually finished anything at all yet, (even Wedding Bells)."

Fans may be impatiently waiting for the release but so is EMI. The band’s record label is counting on phenomenal sales of the new album to help it get out from under the enormous debt burden it carries right now.

Former manager Phil Harvey told fans that touring for the new album would take a little longer to get underway. Unlike the tour to support Viva La Vida which started soon after that album release, the band would hit the road after a "slightly longer" gap next time.
