No Reunion Happening for Dire Straits

The ex-singer/guitarist of Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, is refusing to reunite with the group.

Mark Knopfler has sabotaged any chances of Dire Straits coming back to the music scene. The group’s ex-frontman turned down the reunion offer.

Former bassist John Illsley told BBC News that he came up with the idea for the band to reunite, but Mark wasn’t keen on it. Illsley even tried to convince him, but he failed. Knopfler said that he’s making different music these days and wants to focus on that.

The last Dire Straits album, On Every Street, dates back to 1991.

Since the band dissolved in 1995, Knopfler has pursued a solo career, which has proved to be successful, according to certain critics. He released his fifth album, Kill to Get Crimson, last year.
