Noel Gallagher wants to join The Faces tour

The Oasis guitarist wants to play with the group Rod Stewart made famous.

Rod Stewart began his career in the 1970s with the band The Faces (before known as Small Faces). He then moved on to an incredibly successful solo career.

Another big name in the band with Stewart back then was Ron Wood. The guitarist was called upon to replace Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones. After being part of a few important albums in that band’s history, Taylor wanted to return to his first love, the blues.

Now, several decades later, The Faces is getting back together for a tour. Rod Stewart declined to reunite with the band to perform their old repertoire of songs. The band called on Mick Hucknall, Simply Red’s singer and frontman, to take Stewart’s place behind the microphone. Now, Noel Gallagher from Oasis mentioned his interest in joining The Faces on stage. He has some free time since Oasis imploded last year.

The Faces is also welcoming Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes. He is also known as actress Kate Hudson’s ex-husband.

The group will not be hitting the stage before 2011 and does not rule out a change of heart by Rod Stewart. If that does happen, Hucknall and Robinson would be relegated to back-up singers if not completely shuffled out.
