According to Vremya, Sacha Baron Cohen is in line to receive a national prize in Kazakhstan. In his latest film, Borat: Cultural Learning of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, this country is represented in a negative manner.
On several instances, the movie has been accused for ridiculing the habitants of this region. Author, Sapabek Asip-uly, requested that Borat, 35, receives the award for the Club of Art Patrons of Kazakhstan.
He stated, "(Borat) has managed to spark an immense interest of the whole world in Kazakhstan – something our authorities could not do during the years of independence. "
Earlier this week, the President Nursultan Nazarbayev added that he supported the film. He repeated that Borat helped to bring attention to the world of Kazakhstan.
