October 16, 2009 – Hormone Is Ineffective For Treatment Of HIV

The Il-2 hormone is ineffective for treatment of AIDS.

According to The New England Journal of Medicine, Quebec researchers at the University of McGill along with American and European researchers have discovered that the Il-2(interleukin-2) hormone is ineffective against HIV/AIDS.

After eight years of research in 25 countries, researchers have determined that this hormone, used in addition to the triple therapy, does not have the desired effect and is total useless against the virus.

Initially, Il-2 was expected to increase the production of immune cells and thus increase the natural immunity of patients with the disease.

The hormone triggered an increased regeneration of immune cells but the new cells were less effective than the cells generated naturally by the patient. In other words, Il-2 did not offer any advantages to the patient’s immune system.

The 14 scientists involved in this study recommend stopping the use of Il-2 in clinical trials worldwide.
