According to the Courier Mail, Patrick McDermott may not have fallen into the sea to his death in 2005. Some believe that he staged his own death due to money issues.
Private investigators in Texas believe that McDermott has been travelling between Mexico and South America for the past four years so that his son can collect a $100 000 life insurance policy.
Philip Klein, who has been investigating the mysterious disappearance of McDermott since 2007, says that he’s alive. "He’s alive – there’s no doubt in my mind, this guy’s alive. Maybe in his mind if he stages his death, the insurance policy will pay off all his debts," said Klein.
The investigator added that 17 witnesses claim to have seen McDermott in Mexico after it was believed that he had fallen from a boat to his death.
After the tragedy, Olivia Newton-John moved on with her life, marrying John Easterling last June.
