Olivia Palermo says accessories are key

Olivia Palermo believes accessories are the most important part of an outfit.

The American socialite never tries to dress for anyone other than herself and believes the perfect piece of jewellery or handbag can set off any look.

She told Spanish newspaper El Mundo: "I incorporate accessories because that’s the most important thing when you are getting dressed – it gives you a personal touch."

"I try to dress for myself. I always have a very polished element to everything that I wear."

Olivia shot to fame after starring in reality show ‘The City’, during which time she worked in the fashion department of Elle magazine. She has since carved a career for herself as a model and style expert thanks to her fashion blog and hight-profile gigs including representing Spanish jewellery line Carrera y Carrera.

She added: "I love my job and I love the fact that every day is different."

The 27-year-old star recently said summer is her favourite season for experimenting with different prints and colours since she favours daring designs during the warmer months.

She explained: "It’s all about what catches your eye when it comes to different patterns. Play around with mixing big and small prints to see how it works for you, and go from there.

"Summer is a great time to play around with colour as well, so don’t be afraid to go bold."
