Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are adding a line of luxury handbags to their high-end label The Row, reports Female First.
The 25-year-old twins turned their successful careers as child stars into a massive fashion empire, and now their very chic and very expensive ready-to-wear line is expanding again – this time with $5,000 handbags in ostrich, lizard and alligator skin.
A number of different styles are included in the line. The Day Luxe is a top-handle tote bag, the Classic Shoulder is a messenger bag with a long cross-body strap, while the Twin Mini is a small purse with a different finish on each side. There’s also the classic rectangular Metal Frame clutch and the rounded Doctor Bag.
"We wanted there to be multiple options in the collection so you aren’t stuck with one style; there’s a purpose to every bag," Ashley explained to Harper’s Bazaar.
"We didn’t want too much branding; we didn’t want an ‘It’ bag," added Mary-Kate, explaining why they stuck with simple, clean and classic designs for their collection.
Along with their couture line The Row, the twins have also launched a contemporary label Elizabeth and James – named after their less-famous siblings – and a retail line, Olsenboye, exclusively for U.S. department store J.C. Penny.
