Oscar eludes Denis Villeneuve
Unfortunately, French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve did not collect the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film last night (February 27). The Danish film In a Better World beat out Incendies.
During the gala hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway, The King’s Speech won four awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Colin Firth, Best Director for Tom Hooper, and Best Original Screenplay for David Seidler.
It wasn’t a huge surprise when Natalie Portman won Best Actress for her performance in Black Swan. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo both won an Oscar for their supporting roles in The Fighter.
Christopher Nolan’s Inception did not leave empty-handed, winning awards for Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing.
The Social Network picked up five Oscars: Aaron Sorkin won for Best Adapted Screenplay, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Best Original Score, and Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter for Best Film Editing.
The Oscar for Best Animated Film was awarded to Toy Story 3.
