Ozzy announces first OZZfest dates

Ozzy will share headlining duties with another metal legend.

The 61-year old rocker has been around the block a few times in his long career and shows no signs of slowing down. He recently released his 10th studio album, Scream.

Now we find a press release on the OZZFest website telling fans: "The 2010 OZZFest–back after taking a year off in 2009 and the 2008 one-off stadium spectacular in Dallas, TX with OZZY and Metallica headlining–will kick off August 1."

Ozzy unveiled the first dates on his popular summer festival last Friday (April 30). OZZFest owes its existence to Lollapalooza. Organizers of that festival thought Ozzy Osbourne was not "current enough" and refused to add him to that festival in 1996.

Shrewd businesswoman and Osbourne’s better half, Sharon Osbourne, took the bull by the horns and decided to start their own festival. This was one of the best decisions the couple has made in recent history. The festival keeps growing in popularity.

The press release offers fans details of what to expect: "Each OZZFest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 PM. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the OZZFest Village of the Damned featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses."

The first six shows on the festival tour include Chicago, Hartford, Camden and lastly Boston on August 24, 2007 was the last year the OZZFest hit the show on the road. There were 25 concerts on the tour back then.

Besides Mötley Crüe and Ozzy, the festival will welcome Rob Halford, Devil Driver, Nonpoint, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, Skeletonwitch, Saviours and Kataklysm.
