Ozzy Osbourne absent from 2011 Ozzfest

Former Black Sabbath frontman is headed for European tour.

Heavy metal legend, Ozzy Osbourne, former frontman for Black Sabbath, has said he will not be attending his long-running heavy metal music festival Ozzfest this year as he’s headed for a solo tour in Europe, according the Revolver magazine.

In answering a fan submitted question, “Are you planning to do an Ozzfest 2011?” in the magazine’s May 24 issue, Osbourne answered: “No, not this year. I just finished a lengthy arena tour of the U.S., so I’ve decided to tour Europe this summer instead.”

Founded by Osbourne and wife Sharon, Ozzfest is an annual U.S. tour  (and in some years, Europe) featuring performances by many heavy metal and hard rock musical groups. Osbourne and Black Sabbath have played the tour several times over the years.

Osbourne’s solo albums Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary of a Madman have been restored and remastered from the original recordings, and will be released May 31 just in time to celebrate his 30th solo anniversary.
