Pamela Love designs jewelry collection for Topshop

New Yorker is first American designer to collaborate with U.K. clothing chain.

New York jeweler Pamela Love is set to become the first American designer to collaborate with U.K. clothing store chain Topshop, reports Vogue.fr.

The first collection of the new five-part series, which is inspired by Americana and the American spirit, will begin appearing in Topshop stores next month.

"It evokes the spirit of America," Love said of her new line. "I’m their first designer from the States, so I felt it was important to represent that."

While Love’s custom jewelry pieces can retail for as much as $1,000 a piece, her Topshop collection is expected to be more affordably priced.

And price won’t be the collection’s only difference. "It’s softer," Love told Vogue. "When have you seen me use hearts before?"

Items in the jewelry collection will include a baroque-style piece featuring hearts and arrows with an antique-inspired pewter finish, and Dreamcatcher, a medicine wheel-inspired brass piece adorned with feathers.

Love, whose custom jewelry is a favorite of celebrities like Alexa Chung and Vanessa Hudgens, has a very particular design process for her main line.

"We begin with an inspiration board and then move on to wax carvings and casting models in different materials. Each piece starts out by me personally hand carving the wax model, and thanks to my amazing production team, together we make it possible to produce high quality pieces," she told Inside Source.

"As far as inspiration goes, I’m constantly inspired by traveling, symbols, magic and different cultural traditions around the world."
