Paris Fashion Week hits the runway

Designers are showing off their new collections this week in Paris.

Nouvel Obs reports that haute couture designers are presenting their spring/summer 2010 collections in Paris this week.

Among 11 haute couture designing houses, only Christian Lacroix will not be there. The company has been severely affected by the economic crisis and its future is uncertain.

The first designers to hit the runway today (January 25) are Anne-Valérie Hash, Christian Dior and Adeline Andrée.

Fashion shows by Chanel, Stéphane Rolland, Maurizio Galante, Dominique Sirop and Givenchy take place on Tuesday (January 26).

Designers Franck Sorbier and Jean-Paul Gaultier have their turn on Wednesday (January 27).

The press will get a chance on Thursday (January 28) to watch high-end jewellery shows by Boucheron, Cartier, Chanel Joaillerie, Chaumet, Dior Joaillerie, Mellerio Dits Meller and Van Cleef & Arpels.

The week ends on Thursday night with Dîner de la Mode. All proceeds go to Sidaction.
