A parrot is reported to have been taken into custody after swearing at an 85-year-old woman.
Hariyal the parrot was detained by police because of the complaints of Janabai Sakharkar, of Maharashtra, India, who claimed she was abused whenever she passed by the house of her stepson Suresh, The India Times reports.
Subsequently, the police conceded the parrot may have heard and copied Suresh abusing Janabai.
The parrot said nothing at the police station, but the officers still thought it necessary to pass him over to the Forest Department for rehabilitation.
