Swayze’s battle with pancreatic cancer came to an end yesterday (September 14). The actor was 57.
The star’s spokesperson stated, "Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."
In addition to being a talented dancer, a revered actor in the eyes of women following his Dirty Dancing stint, and a devoted husband, Swayze proved to be a fighter against the disease.
Actress Whoopi Goldberg, who starred alongside him in the film Ghost, said, "Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can’t ever repay. I believe in Ghost‘s message, so he’ll always be near."
Swayze worked on the television series The Beast while he was receiving chemotherapy
and never lost his hope.
