The actor, who revealed that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this month, is taking Vatalanib, a new treatment used to fight this deadly disease.
Dr. M. Wasif Saif of Yale University confirmed that Swayze’s body will probably react well to this treatment since he is in good physical health. "The drug that Patrick Swayze is taking, Vatalanib, is still in the experimental stage. But recent studies have shown promise for patients taking the drug who are in excellent physical shape," stated the doctor.
Vatalanib blocks the growth and spread of cancer by attacking the molecules involved in carcinogenesis.
