Former Beatles member Paul McCartney has reportedly been approached to sing at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton scheduled for April 29, according to a source from the Daily Star.
“William and Kate have chosen their wedding list and Paul McCartney is their number one choice to perform. They can’t think of anyone more perfect to kick off proceedings,” said the source.
The future king of Britain and his fiancée are hoping he will perform at a Buckingham Palace reception since the couple believes his music has universal appeal.
McCartney, 68, is said to have confided to friends that he felt “privileged” after receiving the invitation a few weeks ago.
However, a royal spokesman declined to confirm the news, saying only “none of it has been finalized.”
