Paul McCartney to play Yankee Stadium

Former Beatle returns to New York City this summer.

There are some artists who always attract a sell-out crowd no matter where they go. This will certainly the case for Paul McCartney, 68, when he plays Yankee Stadium in New York City on Friday July 15, reports Spinner.

The new Yankee Stadium, inaugurated in 2006, can accommodate more than 55,000 people for a concert, and while it’s the only performance listed so far, the NYC date will mark the beginning of the former Beatle’s 2011 On the Run tour.

Fans who want to visit the Big Apple to see the singer-songwriter will be available to purchase tickets as of next Monday June 13 at 11:00 am ET. The musician also recently announced a reissue of his solo albums McCartney and McCartney II in deluxe, remastered editions with special bonus material.

New York City could well become McCartney’s second home since he’s engaged to New Yorker Nancy Shevell, whom he’s been dating since November 2007. She’s a board member of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority and vice president of a family-owned transportation conglomerate. Just last month, on May 6, it was announced that the two were planning to get married.
