20 years after being denied, Kate Bush has been given the green light to insert a passage from James Joyce’s Ulysses in her recently reworked version of The Sensual World, now titled, Flower Of The Mountain. The revised track will appear on her forthcoming album, Director’s Cut.

When originally writing the title track of her 1989 album, Bush dutifully went through the proper channels. “I had used text from the end of Ulysses," Bush claims. "When I asked for permission to use the text I was refused, which was disappointing.” Having no other choice, she abandoned her first draft and rewrote the lyrics.

Director’s Cut will be released May 16 and will include new versions of tracks from both 1989’s The Sensual World and 1993’s The Red Shoes. A video directed by Bush for the albums first single, Deeper Understanding, will also be released.
