The Babyshambles member was set to give several shows in Ireland, but had to cancel them at the last minute. His manager explained that Doherty was exhausted, but the star has revealed that his state of health was much more serious.
He said, "If I hadn’t been on a life support machine I’d have been in Ireland. But my heart stopped."
The musician was taken to the hospital after feeling ill. He revealed that his alcohol consumption and his party lifestyle had nothing to do with the incident. "Their immediate thought was that it was to do with drugs but it wasn’t. What happened? Well, I don’t know. I was running into walls, making steering wheel signs with my hands," said Doherty.
Doherty now claims that he has fully recovered and is ready to join Babyshambles for a British tour in December.
The 30-year-old rocker has tried several times to kick his drug habit. His numerous arrests for drug possession or driving under the influence have proven that it’s not been an easy road.
