Peter Gabriel reinterprets hits songs with New Blood Orchestra

Former Genesis frontman’s hit solo album So turns 25 this year.

Former Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel, who will tour North America June 10 to 29, will be reinterpreting the hits from his 1986 album So with the help of his 46-piece New Blood Orchestra, reports Spinner.

So includes the hit songs Sledgehammer, Don’t Give Up, In Your Eyes, and Big Time. In Your Eyes was memorialized by John Cusack in Cameron Crowe’s film Say Anything, when he performs a modern-day serenade, holding a boombox outside the home of his girlfriend.

Earlier hits like Solsbury Hill, Games Without Frontiers, Biko, and Shock the Monkey preceeded his most popular album So, which was released May 19, 1986, and made Gabriel into one of the biggest musical stars of the moment.

The New Blood Orchestra will provide a symphonic sound to Gabriel’s catalog, just as they did for his album Scratch My Back last year, when the artist covered songs written by stars like Radiohead and David Bowie. Following the tour, Peter Gabriel plans to release a similar album featuring his own hits backed by the orchestra.

The new tour begins June 10 in Berkeley, California, and moves eastward, ending in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 29.
