Pierre Houde’s work recognized by the Hall of Fame

This morning, we learned that Pierre Houde, who has obviously been the voice of the Canadiens for many years, has been honoured by the Hockey Hall of Fame.

In fact, he received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award.

It’s an award given to someone in the media who has made an outstanding contribution to their profession and to hockey. So it’s an award he deserves.

The man who has worked at RDS since 1989 was presented with the award by the NHL Broadcasters Association.

The RDS employee will receive the award this November, as part of the next Hall of Fame cycle. He will therefore be honoured at the Hall, which is a great honour.

Pierre Houde, who lost his brother in recent months, is not the first Quebecer to win this award. RenΓ© Lecavalier, Richard Garneau and Gilles Tremblay have also been honoured in the past.

These are big names.

No word yet on how much time Pierre Houde has left at the RDS game mic, but at least he’ll have the chance to be honored while he’s still active.

Scott Burnside won the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award.

– It’s done!

– Wow.

– Rebuild? It’s not in the Bruins’ mentality. [JdeM]

– That’s reaction.
