If there’s one issue that’s been attracting a lot of attention in the field hockey world for weeks, if not months, it’s that of 24-year-old forward Pierre-Luc Dubois.
We hear about Dubois practically every day, if not every hour, which is really starting to bother and make many fans impatient, with good reason.
However, the feeling right now is that the file is on the verge of closure.
Indeed, all indications are that Pierre-Luc Dubois may have changed his address by the time of the draft, or simply at the draft.
A transaction seems increasingly imminent.
Will he be traded to the Montreal Canadiens?
Well, as the days go by and we gather more and more information, we realize that Dubois in Montreal is becoming less and less of a possibility.
Unfortunately or fortunately? Everyone has their own opinion.
In short, what makes the CH seem to be dragging their feet more and more is that other teams are very active in the matter and showing interest in the 24-year-old Quebecer.
One team that simply won’t budge is the Los Angeles Kings.
It appears that the @LAKings ‘ interest in Pierre-Luc Dubois is not waning. The question now is whether a trade is possible, as well as a contract extension.

Indeed, the Kings, who aggressively invited themselves into the deal a few weeks ago, don’t seem ready to let go.
Their interest in the Winnipeg Jets’ center isn’t waning, which means, among other things, that Dubois wouldn’t say no to a trade to Los Angeles, and potentially a contract extension.
The Kings wouldn’t be so aggressive if Dubois had no interest in a long-term deal with them,
At the moment, Los Angeles seems to be in the lead in this matter, and let’s just say it makes sense considering the elements they have on hand and are willing to sacrifice for Dubois.
Indeed, according to rumors, Gabriel Vilardi could be part of the return sent to the Jets for PLD.

Vilardi, aged just 23, is a former 11th overall pick of the Kings in 2017, who just burst onto the scene last season with 41 points (23 goals and 18 assists) in 63 games. He also amassed two goals and two assists in five playoff games.
In short, Vilardi remains a fine project that the Kings would be willing to sacrifice for Dubois, aged 24.
Let’s not forget, too, that the Kings could offer young Quinton Byfield, the second overall pick in 2020, who still hasn’t established himself in the NHL at the age of 20.
Vilardi and Byfield aren’t the only quality youngsters the Kings have on hand. Alex Turcotte, Brandt Clarke and Jordan Spence could be of interest to the Winnipeg Jets.
In short, the Kings have everything they need to make the Jets an attractive offer for Dubois.
Also, on the salary front, the Kings traded Sean Durzi to the Arizona Coyotes yesterday in return for a second-round pick.
This freed up $1.7 million on the Kings’ payroll, bringing their under-cap space to $9,036,666.
According to rumors, what are Dubois’ salary demands?
That’s right, $9M per year on a long-term contract.
In short, the Kings seem to be in a very good position to acquire Dubois.
In the wind
– The Flyers remain the ones to watch today.
Nothing new to pass on at this hour other than to say, I know the Flyers brass is back at work early on a Sunday to try to put the finishing touches on two trades. Just as an FYI, I will be a little tied up until lunchtime, but will update if anything new comes in before then.

The proposed Tony DeAngelo trade to Carolina from Philadelphia hit a snag late last night according to sources. It needs to get worked put or else that deal now doesn’t happen.
