Pink Floyd release a single to support Ukraine

Pink Floyd is releasing a new single. For the English group, it is a war effort to help Ukraine.

David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason, bassist Guy Pratt and composer Nitin Sawhney launch the song Hey Hey Rise Up. Proceeds from the sale of the record will be donated to a fund specially created for Ukraine by theUnited Nations Refugee Agency.

The new song was inspired to David Gilmour by the atrocities committed by the Russians to the Ukrainian people and their bravery against the invader.

In an interview with The Guardian, the singer and guitarist said he was inspired by the Ukrainian musician Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the band BoomBox. Khlyvnyuk left his band in February to join the Ukraine, while his band was on tour in the United States.

“I feel like it was important for us to do something too. It’s really hard and frustrating to see what’s going on, to see these unjustified attacks by a world power against an independent, democratic, peace-loving nation,” the singer explained.

As a protest to the conflict in Europe, Pink Floyd has already removed all its songs from the music platforms of Russia and Belarus for several weeks. But the band wanted to do even more.

The song Hey Hey Rise Upis now available for download.
