Earlier today, Juraj Slafkovsky and Cole Caufield faced off in a World Championship warm-up match.
The Americans won the match 6-2, and Slaf came out on top with a magnificent goal.
But even though it was a preparatory match, Slaf was frustrated with the result afterwards.
He wasn’t smiling at all in front of the cameras, contrary to what we usually see from him…
And you could see it in his face, he was damned:
Juraj Slafkovsky just hates to lose man.
Even in a pre-tournament game, he looks pissed off in his post-game interview. pic.twitter.com/Q4WAU8l7Ro

(OBOXADSQ || []).push({“cmd”: “addBanner”});
Juraj Slafkovsky is an intense player who’s not afraid to show his emotions, both on and off the ice.
The proof?
Tomáš Prokop, a hockey insider in Slovakia, reported the young man’s words ina tweet…
And if you translate the quote into French, you’ll notice that Slaf criticized the match referees:
I had to say something else about the referees, they were horrible. – Juraj Slafkovsky
Juraj Slafkovský po rozhovorch len zamrlal: “Mal som ešte niečo povedať o rozhodcoch, boli otrasní.”
– Tomáš Prokop (@Lewysko) May 7, 2024
I love the passion he exudes and that’s why we love him so much in Montreal.
That said…
Slaf won’t always be able to make comments like that because at some point, it’s going to catch up with him.
We know how much Brendan Gallagher is appreciated by NHL referees, who aren’t afraid to criticize the zebra men when the time comes… Hehe.
All in all, it just goes to show how much he wants to win, and this was discussed within the organization before he was drafted with the first pick in 2022.
Because at the end of the day, Juraj Slafkovsky is a confident kid, a guy who hates to lose and takes his club’s success to heart.
And we saw it today, even if it was only a warm-up game.
