Primal Scream’s most rock ‘n’ roll moment

Primal Scream think recording with Robert Plant was the "most rock ‘n’ roll thing ever."

The ‘Rocks’ band recruited the legendary Led Zeppelin singer to appear on a song from their forthcoming tenth album, and regular vocalist Bobby Gillespie was honoured to be in the studio at the same time as him.

He told Classic Rock magazine: "He lives near our studio and he asked if there was anything he could do. He sings on the track ‘Elimination Blues’. I stood next to him in the booth when he was singing. It was the most rock ‘n’ roll thing ever."

The album – provisionally titled ‘More Light’ – will also feature a guest guitar contribution from My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields, who has been a long time collaborator with the group.

Bobby also said quitting drinking and drugs has helped him become a better musician for this album.

He said: "I’ve got a clarity and perception I didn’t have before. I’d have died if I’d carried on like I was. I was putting myself into some terrible places psychologically and physically. I’m free of that now, and I’m a better writer, performer and person for it."
